Surreal Art
Surreal Art could be considered to be the intersection at which my Natural Art meets my Abstract Art. In other words, it is somewhat of a combination of both types.
Often times, I might be out in the field shooting photos when I capture some “decent” shots, but not particularly captivating ones. After viewing these “decent” shots, my mind starts to swirl and I am able to envision digital edits and enhancements to make the image a more distinct artwork. Whether I adjust the composition, color, or subject of the photo, I try to make sure that I do not let it go to waste. Similar to a painter painting on a blank canvas, I digitally paint over the top of an already-painted canvas. It truly is fascinating to experiment with these photos to make them all that they can be, to blur the lines of what’s real and what is make-believe. Most times, the end goal is to make the onlooker unsure of what is real and what is not. As an artist, I do not necessarily think of what the photograph IS, but what the photograph CAN BE. My imagination is my only barrier and I really enjoy that fact.
